jpop summit

Jpop Summit is a cultural and music festival in San Francisco that is about and inspired by various aspects of Japanese pop culture. The concept is inspired by a combination of vaporwave, Japanese kawaii culture, and retro video games.

The color palette was chosen to be like a sunrise sky gradient and also more on the pastel end of the spectrum as a nod to kawaii and vaporwave culture. Pixel art was used for the clouds and most of the other illustrations to mimic the blocky art of retro video games. Other aspects taken from retro video games can be seen in the contents menu at the bottom of the schedule and artists page which is inspired by video game menus. Additionally, taking from retro computer interfaces, the schedule uses folders on a desktop and the nomenclature fact about Yoasobi appears as a pop-up window.
